Democratic Congresswoman Haley Stevens, who is running for the U.S. Senate, released her 2025 tax return on Monday and called on all U.S. Senate candidates in Michigan to do the same.

“Michiganders are sick and tired of elected officials running for office just to get rich or build an audience," she said in a statement. "Voters deserve transparency, and we all need to walk the walk."

"That’s why I’m releasing my tax return, and calling on all three of my opponents to do the same,” said Stevens. “I’m not a millionaire. I’m fighting to stop politicians from getting rich in office and using their positions of power to enrich themselves and their families. Our job is to fight for Michigan, not ourselves or special interests. Michiganders can always trust me to fight for Michigan and only Michigan.”

Stevens' opponents include Democrats Abdul El-Sayed and state Sen. Mallory McMorrow and Republican Mike Rogers. Deadline Detroit sent all three candidates emails late Sunday night asking for comment. None had responded as of early Monday morning.

Stevens' tax return for 2025 reveals that her adjusted gross income was $169,970 and she took $22,272 in standard deductions, bringing her taxable income to $147,698. Her total tax liability was $28,249, which amounts to about a 19 percent effective tax rate.

A press release said Stevens:

  • Does not directly own or trade individual stocks.
  • Made no earned income outside of her congressional salary and benefits.
  • Took no itemized tax deductions aside from the standard state and local real estate tax deduction, mortgage interest deduction, and the personal property tax deduction
