It's been a very long time since Detroit fans could be excited about the Tigers this late in the season. Though they lost Friday night in Baltimore 7-1, they're only one game behind the Twins in the final wildcard spot.
But guess who else is eating up this late-season competition? The players.
Left fielder Riley Greene tells the Detroit Free Press:
"It's definitely fun. We're having a blast. This is the most fun I've had playing baseball, I think in my life. I would say that's what super-special to me about it, having fun. We're having a lot of fun."
"We got to keep playing free. We got to keep playing our version of baseball. We got to focus on ourselves. We can't focus on what other teams are doing because it doesn't matter. It matters what we do."
